What happens when you hit a wall? Do you pause and reflect? Or do you muster up enough strength to hit it again? Do you listen to your body at all?

Do you give up immediately? Or do you take inventory of what’s going on inside of you and use that new information to adjust your strategy?

If you are the type of person who keeps hitting the wall, there is a chance you’ll break through. But there’s a better chance that you’ll end up breaking yourself before you do.

If you tend to throw up your hands and give up, then you’re probably surrounded by walls you’ve avoided. How many can you neglect before you pen yourself in?

Progress requires breaking unhealthy patterns

Rather than repeat your mistakes and blunder on ahead, a better choice of action is to stop what you’re doing, take inventory of what’s going on with your mind, body, spirit, and emotions, and then develop a new strategy.

In that pause, you might discover a third way to overcome your obstacle. Perhaps you take the time to rest and refresh before trying again. Or maybe you discover that what you want isn’t on the other side of that wall, after all.

Why you need to listen to your body

The mind fills up quickly with shoulds, coulds and ought-to-dos. These keep us in unhealthy and unhelpful patterns. The body is connected to wisdom that’s much deeper and older and less dependent on other people’s thoughts and opinions.


If you don’t listen to your body, you’ll never know what’s truly going on with you. Don’t rely only on what you think you know. Listen to your body. When you really listen, you might discover something really important.

That’s your challenge.
