If you’ve ever rolled your eyes when someone says they’re ‘blessed,’ I see you.
But there’s a reason why people find value in giving thanks — even while things around them are falling apart.
When you express gratitude, your brain releases seratonin and dopamine — two alchemical triggers that generate feelings of safety, happiness, contentment, and love.

When you express gratitude, you’re making yourself happier, from the inside out.
That means spending a few moments to count your blessings, or at least focusing on what doesn’t suck right now, can pull you out of a funk and go a long way toward making your sense of self and happiness anti-fragile.
And with all the negative chatter around, who doesn’t want to find a way to be happy in spite of all the batshit crazy things happening in the world right now?
Fun fact: being happy is good for your health.
Joy helps you:
- live a healthier lifestyle
- reduce stress
- strengthen your immune system
- live longer
That sounds like resiliency to me.
Building those thanks-giving, joy-fueled brain receptors is what you need to thrive, not just survive.
So the next time you see a T-shirt that reads, ‘Too Blessed to Be Stressed,’ don’t roll your eyes.
Smile, count your blessings, and acknowledge that both know the secret to being happy no matter what happens.
That’s your challenge.
