You know what bothers me about a lot of self-help books?
They assume something’s wrong with me, you, and anyone else who’s found them.
It’s implied if we don’t follow their sage advice, then we’ll be doomed to stay mediocre (or worse).
But there’s nothing wrong with you. Or me. Or anyone else.
You’re perfect, just the way you are.
That doesn’t mean you can’t improve.
We can all get better. After all, the minute we stop learning, we start dying.
What I mean is that there’s nothing wrong with you. You’re not lesser-than. You’re not deficient in anything.
You can choose at any time to do better.
So if you’re feeling it, go ahead and try something new. Adapt an atomic habit. Break co-dependencies. Kick clutter to the curb. Form a healthier relationship to food.
But know that these new, healthy habits are only adding to your awesomeness. They’re not fixing you.
Because you’re not broken. There’s nothing wrong with you.
You’re perfect. And . . . you can choose to do better or be better at any time.
Accepting that is your challenge. 🙂
